When Mason Webb, a long-time Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) enthusiast, discovered the unique experience of "D&D in a Castle" through Facebook, he knew he had to share it with someone special - his mother, Sue. Though Sue had never played D&D before, she agreed to join Mason on this magical adventure. Little did they know, it would become a cherished tradition for the duo.

Mason, who hails from Wayne, Michigan, had been playing D&D for nearly two decades. He was excited to introduce his mother to the fantastical world he loved so much. In their first year, Mason played with Nerdarchy's Dave Friant while Sue, new to the game, played with Doug Vehovic. The experience turned out exactly as they hoped, with both of them having a blast. Sue recalls, "It was my first time playing D&D, and ever since, I have enjoyed playing it much more."

In their second visit, they decided to play together at the same table, joining the campaign run by Dice Cream Sandwich. They found that playing at the same table was a lot of fun, but also appreciated playing separately, as it allowed them to exchange stories about their individual adventures. This shared experience at the castle served to strengthen their bond and create lasting memories.

Since their first time playing together, Sue and Mason have continued to explore the world of D&D outside the Castle walls. They have been part of a campaign that lasted for two years and recently started a new one with the same group. Mason is also part of three other campaigns.

When asked if they plan to return to D&D in a Castle, and if so whether they'd come together again, both Sue and Mason enthusiastically replied, "Yes and yes."

We love how the unique experience of playing in a castle brings people closer and what a wonderful way this was to share a passion with a loved one. We wish Sue and Mason much happy gaming, and many wonderful memories, within the Castle and without!
