“Let us ready our swords, gather our dice, and embark on a quest of legendary proportions!”
Salutations, dear reader!
It is I, the Castle Squire, writing to thee from the most magnificent castle in all the lands, Lumley Castle, where D&D in a Castle has taken flight once again!
Guests arrive three days hence. The servants arrived from across the ocean only last evening, and the castle is now abuzz with preparations. The first of the Dungeon Masters, the enchanting Vee Mus’e, along with Nerdarchists Dave and Ted, shall arrive under cloak of darkness tonight. And on the morrow, most all our distinguished company of hosts shall find their way to the Castle.
Gifts have arrived for them, and for our cherished players, from Forged Gaming and beyond, and such treasures do they include! And such marvellous miniatures and tomes now fill the DM Resource Library, to be put to use in the games. WizKids miniatures and gargantuan miniatures, battle maps, physical terrain, and one enormous playable version of my Castle itself! I have also outdone myself building sets in which epic encounters and adventures may play out.
Food tasting was also on the agenda, and I was pleasantly surprised by the scrumptious delicacies that awaited me. I was particularly intrigued by the courses labelled as vegan. I suspect sorcery to cause such flavours and sumptuous delight to be summoned without meat or cheese. I shall investigate further.

For now, let us ready our swords, gather our dice, and embark on a quest of legendary proportions! Your Castle Squire awaits, and the adventure of a lifetime is about to begin!
Yours Ever,
The Castle Squire

Today we’re answering these questions and more as we chat with Tara, one half of the sister-brother duo who created D&D in a Castle.
The past year has been a harrowing experience for many of us. We have all experienced, to greater or lesser degrees, the ravages of a common enemy. Many of us have continued playing D&D from the confines of our homes. But hope returns with the possibility of travel and socializing.
Did you grow up like the kids in Stranger Things, living and breathing games—or do you wish you had?
